Going Dark...at least in spirit. SOPA/PIPA
1/18/2012
I don't usually do this, but then again it's not every day that internet crushing legislation goes through the House and Senate of the United States.
If you've not been following SOPA/PIPA, in a nutshell, these bills mandate that, at the request of a governmental institution, any major DNS provider must remove the upstream DNS record for any site suspected of hosting copyrighted material.
For those of you non-techincal this is basically the house equivalent of removing your name/address/telephone number from every white pages or yellow pages in the united states. Your house still exists, your next door neighbors may know you're still there, but for all intents and purposes you no longer exist.
There is no legal recourse. You are not brought before a court, you do not get your ability to say your piece, you are not informed this is happening. The government says "Your site has copyrighted material on it" (whether it does or not) and POOF it disappears PERMANENTLY from the Internet.
As of today Wikimedia (the parent of Wikipedia and several other sites) as well as the well known web comic XKCD have "gone dark" (turned off their site) in protest of this legislation. Were I not to have been bed ridden with the flu for the last 5 days, this site would have joined them and hundreds to thousands of others doing the same thing. Instead I'll keep this site up with this message blaring at the top to remind people WHY these sites have gone dark, why they are not online today, and why it matters.
If you are not usually political, now is the time to become such. If you do not normally pay attention to "this kind of stuff", trust me, it's worth paying attention this time. Do a quick couple of Google searches on why SOPA / PIPA are so bad for us, then take 5 minutes of your time and do something to make YOUR voice heard.

Support Forum Re-Orginization
For a while now, the chaos that has been the support forum has been driving me crazy, so I'm going to abuse my power and clean up the mess while Illydth is on Vacation!

Slowing Down: Release 4.1.4 Will likely be last on the 4.1.x line
Thank you to EVERYONE who's taken a hand in debug, test, code, etc. for the 4.1.x line of code. Thankfully, it looks like the VAST majority of issues are now fixed within the 4.1.3 code base and a few that have cropped up are already checked in for 4.1.4.
The probability is that 4.1.4 (I'll give it another week or two before I release to see if anyone comes up with other issues on it) will be the last version of 4.1. After that I'll start a patches thread and simply keep you all updated (as I have in past releases) with patches to the base 4.1.4 for any bugs that need fixed.
Once that happens I'll be starting work in earnest on 4.2.0 with hopefully not so many errors the next time around and hopefully not released a year from now like 4.1 was.
Again, I'd like to thank everyone who's been involved in the testing, debugging, and problems of 4.1 so far and a huge thanks to all of my users for putting up with me through this release as I "got back into it".

WRM 4.1.2 (Final) Released
The newest version in the WRM 4.1 Line (WRM 4.1.2) has been released.
Included within this one are a slew of bug fixes to several parts of the system including the installer.
Also included are new "generic" raids (as requiested) that are tagged to the Cataclysm release at the moment (if you'd like to schedule a "generic" event select "cataclysm" as the WoW Expansion and select either Raids or Groups for the generic 25/10 man and 5/Heroic 5 mans (respectively).
Finally, this version fixes multiple major security bugs across multiple files in the application. If you are on any 4.x version of WRM you are strongly encouraged to upgrade as soon as possible.
You can find the new files at the download link on the left side menu.

WRM 4.2 will Support PHP5 Only...
Please see the announcement post in the announcement forums for more information.
In essence, I don't have the ability to continue to support both PHP4 and PHP5 within WRM. There are too many changes going into PHP to continue to provide support for both releases.
As of WRM 4.2 (no announced release date), the required version of PHP to run the software will become AT LEAST PHP v5.0 and MAY become PHP 5.2. (I'm open to posts explaining why you can't move from 5.0 - 5.2).

Old Forums Locked
It's now been a few weeks that we've been on the new PHPBB Forums on the boards and I've heard of no major issues with them, so I've gone ahead and locked the old forums.
They're still accessible, you just can't post to them.
Also, please follow the "
phpBB Forums" link to get to the real forums instead of the "Forums" link at the bottom (which is now locked).
Thanks for Understanding.
See the following post for more information as well as more Website Updates incoming.
